The CAD Department collects the graphical data for the CAD systems such as sanitary sewer mains, manholes, and water lines. We use engineering drawings and a variety of other available sources to create a visual map that is as accurate as possible and can be easily read by city workers needing to know all kinds of information in their daily routines.
A good map is a meaningful map, and as technology progresses in the CAD arena, the City of St. Cloud's CAD Department will continue to implement newer technologies such as GPS (Global Positioning System) to enable us to obtain precise positions, locations and assets on the earth's surface anywhere in the city within inches of accuracy. CAD technologies enable better decision-making and increase government's knowledge of how citizens may be impacted by those decisions.
